3 Reasons Not to Vote for Josh Kraft
I know my other Josh Kraft pieces are a bit wordy, so I’m going to try to keep this succinct, so you can send it to your friends and neighbors.
He supports anti-queer, anti-bodily-autonomy, racist politicians.
This isn’t my opinion. Kraft has donated to a lot of politicians on both sides of the aisle, but, notably, they include these clowns:
Representative Bob Latta. Cosponsored a resolution to amend the US Constitution to ban same-sex marriage, 2015. Josh Kraft gave him a contribution in 2019.
Representative Mike Bost. Another anti-queer politician who condemned and voted against equal marriage. Also said he didn’t want to hold town hall meetings because they were like, “the cleansing the Orientals used to do.” That was in 2017. Josh Kraft donated to his campaign in 2020.
Representative Buddy Carter. Just a laundry list of horrible positions, but notable is his opposition to women’s bodily autonomy and his belief that public schools should teach the Christian Bible. Josh Kraft donated in 2020.
Representative Glenn Grothman. Frothing at the mouth anti-queer bigot, racist, and general idiotic clown. Josh Kraft donated in 2022.
Kraft’s spokesperson says he donated to these people because they support Israel. I believe this to be true as well as irrelelvant. “I’m not a bigot, but I will actively enable their bigotry with my money” is a declaration of utter moral bankruptcy.
Women, queer people, and people of color who live in Boston don’t have to wonder if he will sell them out—he already has. There’s no reason to believe this won’t continue.
He doesn’t really live in Boston.
An LLC headquartered at the Patriots’ Foxboro offices bought a condo in Boston in October February 2023 that Josh Kraft claims as his Boston residence. But Josh Kraft seems to have forgotten he was supposed to be living there, as he was using his Brookline address (a home he still owns) on campaign contribution forms as late as December 2024.
This is just common sense, really. Nobody has a home in Boston and a home in Brookline. You can drive between Josh Kraft’s 2 homes in 25 minutes. Whether Josh Kraft is sleeping at his Battery Wharf address enough nights a week to qualify as a resident is kind of irrelevant—he’s a suburban resident and a suburban candidate who seeks to govern Boston for the benefit of its suburbs.
Boston deserves a Bostonian mayor.
He’s tied to Trump.
Josh’s father Robert is, famously, a big Trump supporter who gave a million dollars to Trump’s first inauguration and recently partied with Trump at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Now, look, a lot of people have parents who support Trump. But not a lot of people work for said parents. And pretend to live in a condo purchased by an LLC headquartered at their dad’s office. Josh Kraft depends on family money—Trump-friendly family money— to maintain his lifestyle.
Trump supporter and New Balance CEO Jim Davis has already given a million dollars to the superpac supporting Josh Kraft’s candidacy.
Though I just got a mailer insisting that (Josh) Kraft will stand strong against his dad’s buddy, the idea that Josh Kraft will dare defy his father and his financial backers by opposing the Trump regime in any meaningful way is simply risible.
Kraft will almost certainly enact any policy Trump wants enacted in the City of Boston. We deserve better.
